The United States government is trying to limit the access of its residents to safe and affordable medications from outside the US. On October 22, 2026 the US Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) together with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will be implementing changes that will prohibit any medication from entering the country via the postal service (USPS).
This change is global in scope meaning it applies to packages sent to the US from anywhere in the world, not just those mailed from Canada. This issue is separate from any tariff-related matters, and this is not related to the current Canada-US trade negotiations.
